Nine Mile and Sawpit Creeks Project

Project Date: 2014

Partners: Trout Unlimited, Missoula County, USFS, Private Landowners

Involvement: Restoration funding, colunteer work possible in the future

WSCTU has been working to restore the Nine Mile watershed, which has been severly degraded by mining, for some time. WSCTU was awarded a mini-grant from the MTU to help fund restoration at Sawpit Creek and a portion of the Nine Mile main stem. Nine Mile is an important tributary to the Middle Clark Fork River, providing habitat for native bull trout and westslope cutthroat trout. This project will improve water quality and mediate minig impacts on these streams, improving habitat for these sensitive trout species.
