Mark Kuipers - WSCTU President from 2015
Mark Kuipers picked up a fly rod while a graduate student at Washington State University and never put it down. He became a member of the Clearwater Fly Casters and during summers worked as a fly fishing guide on the Henrys Fork and the Madison. After earning an MBA in marketing, he got a job at Scientific Anglers where he introduced the System One fly reels, produced and marketed some of the first fly fishing videos and edited 5 fly fishing publications. He was recruited to NordicTrack and became the first professional marketer at the company increasing sales dramatically. In 1990 he started his own marketing consulting firm and has worked with clients like the Sleep Number Bed, BowFlex, The Sharper Image, Patagonia, Fisher Investments and many other firms.
Mark moved to Missoula in 2004 when his wife, Kathy, got a job as a professor at The University of Montana. He joined the Board of the chapter in 2006 and still serves as the program chair. According to Mark, his goals as chapter president are “to grow the membership to 1,200, to get local guides to become members and supporters of Trout Unlimited, to raise more money to fund TU’s conservation and education missions and to get more women and young people to take up fly fishing and become active club members.”
Mark is grateful for the leadership and service provided by Jamie Short, immediate past president, as well as to other past presidents who have lead the club so successfully.
